Do You Know about GM Foods?

Recently, it came to my attention that not all foods are real foods.  I have always tried to avoid prepared foods as much as possible and used mostly fresh or at least start with single foods.  Now I am learning that some of our foods are genetically altered.  This alteration takes place not in the factories where the workers prepare the foods but rather in chemical labs like Monsanto where the seeds are injected with herbicides and pesticides like round-up in order to grow with greater pest-resistance.

Why are Foods genetically Modified?

The original motivation for developing genetically modified organisms (GMO) was to protect the crops.  Now, they are produced to resist against plant diseases which are caused by insects or viruses or through increased tolerance toward herbicides.  We are also told that this kind of treatment increases the crop yield.

List of GMO foods:

What do genetically Modified Foods do to Our Health?

At this point, we don’t really know, since most of the studies have been done on animals.  Is it by coincidence that since some thirty years (the genetic alternated crops have been marketed since 1990s.) we have an increase of allergies, inflammation and other organ malfunction in the general population?

Here are some links to help us understand more about the subject:

What can we do to avoid genetically Modified Foods?

I am not a farmer or a scientist, just a mother and grandmother who is concerned about the general well-being of my family.  I don’t want to feed my kids foods which can hurt my family and especially future generations.  At this point we need to educate ourselves.  I watched a movie which really scared me regarding these alternated foods: Genetic Roulette.

Other links about GMOs

How do we recognize GMO (genetically modified organisms)?

Again, we have to educate ourselves about GMOs.  I have found several lists of brand-name products which incorporate GMO derived foods:

List of GMO foods:

Nature or man-made?

Traditionally, farmers collected seeds from season to season, saving seeds from the fall harvest and replant them again in the spring.  Since Monsanto has reinvented themselves from a pesticide and herbicide producer to a multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation farmers are often forced to buy Monsanto's seeds.  They patented their seed production, which are only grown to be planted for one season.  The hybrid seeds cannot be replanted the next spring.

Here is another link to Monsanto’s business practices:

1. GMOs are needed to feed the world.
2. GMOs have been thoroughly tested and proven safe.
3. GMOs increase yield.
4. GMOs reduce the use of agricultural chemicals.
5. GMOs can be contained, and therefore coexist with non-GM crops.

Here is a list of companies which sell organic seeds:

Here is a link to a video regarding harvesting healthy seeds. http://geneticroulettemovie.com/seeds-of-freedom/

While I was finishing the research about this blog I came across an article that certain countries like Russia suspend the purchase of buying GMO seeds.

In the end we all have to make our own choices of what we want to eat and how we want to live our lives.  What I don’t like is when we are forced to be limited to only one choice; that sounds to me like the rules my parents escaped from when they left East-Germany in 1961.

The Perfect Business

"In many cases, word-of-mouth marketing isn't actually about marketing at all. It's about great customer service that makes people want to tell their friends about you. It's about fantastic products that people can't resist showing to everyone."
Andy Sernovitz

Robert Kiyosaki wrote many books on money and business. In his book The Business School he talks about Network Marketing which he considers an asset, not a job. He says that you must have two reasons why you would join a networking business.
Reason number one is to help yourself (follow a dream, have a passion, develop yourself, grow in leadership).

Reason number two is to help others (share your own experiences, become a mentor, teach to fish rather than just giving a fish).

If you join for only one of these two reasons, then the system will not work for you.

Here is a great video giving you more ideas:
Robert Kiyosaki - The perfect business

This past weekend I was part of a monthly seminar the TEAM puts on. The speakers were Jim and Dolores Martin from Michigan. They were employees and business owner before they joined the TEAM. Both shared with so much passion and enthusiasm about their networking experiences, their involvement with the four different aspects of the TEAM's approach:
1) Home Based Business (no commuting, tax-deductions, family centered)
2) Wellness Industry MonaVie distribution of the Juice
3) Intellectual distribution (TEAM system)
4) Internet (being the global store at your own home)
What I felt from their testimonies was their total commitment to helping other to fulfill their dream since they have already great success themselves.

A Stimulus Package of a Different Kind

This past weekend the TEAM MonaVie held it's National Winter Leadership Seminar in St. Louis, Missouri. There were about 15,000 gathered at the Edward Jones Dome for the three-day period. Every TEAM meeting was well organized and everyone was well-mannered. Every session started with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.

The presence of the TEAM was well noticed with WELCOME signs at the airport, the different hotels and even some restaurants.

The content of the seminar is hard to capture in any way with words.
What I took away is this: NO HAND-OUTS BUT HAND-UPS. In the spirit of: "give somebody a fish you feed him for a day, but teach him how to fish you give him a skill for a lifetime."
The TEAM provides an opportunity and a proven system for not only a business but for a life style based on principles.
Since the TEAM's joining with the MonaVie company under Dallin Larsen one year ago, the goals of being HEALTHY, WEALTHY AND WISE have taking on a new meaning.
Just in time, as a true alternative to all the economic upheaval, we offer those who want to take responsibility for their future hope and encouragement. MonaVie as a company is standing out in the networking industry, having reached within the first three years a cumulative sales volume of over 1 Billion dollars. The cooperation between TEAM and MonaVie is a real win-win solution.

Here are a few points of interest to that solution:

* Proper thinking is fundamental for success.

* Principles are more important than products or people.

* You have always choices in every situation.

* Focus on the things you have control over (you can't change the weather or the economy).

* Control media input (only allow uplifting, inspiring and motivating reading and viewing).

* Keep positive environment (we absorb with all five senses).

* Commit to a purpose.

* Focus on the dream and create a clear vision for your goal.

* Expect good things to happen.

* Serve others.

* Believe in yourself.

This video is a small insight in why we are so exited about the MonaVie biz:

Are You Waiting For Your Ship to Come in

but You Are Waiting for it at the Train Station?

"The most successful people in the world look for and build networks, while everybody else just looks for work."
Robert Kiyosaki - Rich Dad, Poor Dad

The past Century has brought a lot of changes in the way we do business. After the trend that has brought many people from the rural areas to the city to work a "job," many are looking now again into being an entrepreneur.

One of the new ways of doing business was the change in retail to mass merchandising. Sam Walton with his Wal*Mart Stores brought a whole new way to the distribution of merchandise. In fact, he revolutionized it to the point where retail has shown the more successful business (over manufacturing), only surpassed by the oil industry.

The next revolution came through the introduction of franchising. Today, most fast food restaurants and some other businesses are all run by the franchising model. You can find the golden arches in Germany as well as Korea and many other exotic places. The model is so successful with its systems that many of the franchise businesses sell for over a million dollars.

One other industry is revolutionizing the economy, and that’s the networking industry. With its word-of-mouth advertising and direct distribution it can be considered the last frontier for the small entrepreneur to start from home with a low investment.
Beyond just distributing goods, this industry has also introduced intellectual distribution.

Paul Zane Pilzer, in his book, The Next Millionaires, states:
"The purpose of this book is not to talk about our society, our government or our country's or the world's economic policies. The purpose of this book is to talk about you and your life. About where our economy has been and (especially) where it's going. And most of all, about what you can do, not just to survive, but to thrive and prosper in the years ahead."

He also said:

"Direct selling not only lets you build a better business it also makes you a better entrepreneur... You only win when you help others win." He wraps it all up with a chapter on "The Spiritual Nature of Business." He has one whole chapter which addresses how to be successful as a direct seller (it is up to YOU) and how to pick a company.

Paul Zane Pilzer on the wellness and direct selling industry:

In his book, The Next Millionaires, Paul Zane Pilzer is optimistic regarding the changes in our economy. While many of the older forms of commerces are confronted with many obstacles (bail-outs, bankruptcies, etc.), Pilzer predicts the 21st Century to be known as the age of the entrepreneur, and gives us many suggestions to how we can become one of the 10 million new millionaires that this new economy will create.

By looking into an nutritional home-based business like MonaVie with the intellectual distribution system back by the TEAM, we are in the right place at the right time. This direct selling industry is teaching people how to obtain products and services that they didn't even know existed. In that way everybody can look at this industry from a new viewpoint and overcome their professional skepticism.

Things in the book to consider:
* The new millionaires are teachers not salespeople
* They will create a huge new business opportunity for themselves
* Wealth was once created by people who made things (manufacturers)
* New wealth is now being created by people who distribute things (Network Marketers)
* Physical distribution (of goods) is out ... intellectual distribution is in
* Intellectual distribution is teaching people that the goods exist and how they benefit them

Pilzer's years of experience as an entrepreneur and employer, make him uniquely qualified to explain how to find your place in the new economy and your pathway to becoming one of The Next Millionaires. His perspective certainly will show you how you can be at right time at the right place to welcome your ship come in.

Into A New Age

Man has come a long way throughout hi(s)-story. We started out as hunter/gatherer for Tens of Thousands of years. People, in form of tribes, were roaming the earth, searching for food and opportunity. Then, for thousands of years, we settled and cultivated the land and became farmers during the Agriculture Age.

With the Industrial Revolution we entered into the Industrial Age, where we produced things and machines, and created a somewhat easier life for ourselves. This period lasted for a couple of hundred years.
We are living now in the information age which encompasses a global economy. In contrast to the industrial age we have shifted from production of physical goods to the manipulation of information. Many of our successes today come from the accomplishment and the sacrifices of people living during the industrial age.
We pretty much conquered famines, except for political gains. People have left personal properties and individual lives for the sake of finding jobs and "prosperity." We have greater life expectancy and lesser threats to our lives' safety.
With the arrival of the computer and especially the internet, we transitioned into the Information Age within just a few decades.

People are in general happier today by connecting with mental disciplines and spiritual principles and finding hope in absolutes such as: everything is energy, we are all one and of one origin. We all want peace but we resist the change to achieve it. Paradoxically, we can only grow through change.

Through the internet we have entered into a global economy. As Victor Hugo wrote more than 150 years ago: "The French revolution is for all the world. It is a battle perpetually waged for Right, and perpetually gained for Truth. Right is the innermost part of man:
Truth is the innermost part of God. What can be done against a revolution which has so much right on its side? Nothing. To love it. That is what the nations do. France offers herself, the world accepts her. The whole phenomenon lies in these few words. An invasion of armies can be resisted;
an idea whos time has come (an invasion of ideas) cannot be resisted.”
Victor Hugo, Histoire d'un Crime (History of a Crime) (written 1852, published 1877)

William G. Huitt, Ph.D wrote a very enlightening article about this transition during the past 200 years entitled: Success in the Information Age: A Paradigm Shift. He talks about the changes which took place in our economy during the past 100 years. How manufacturing has changed, and how distribution has taken over a large part of our economy. He also enlightens us in regard to training young people to get a good education in order to get a good job is not the only desirable goal. Rather, he encourages us to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and to become bigger thinkers, adjust quickly to new products, new circumstances, and be adaptable to many different jobs and work environments.

He as well as Daniel H. Pink: in his book A Whole New Mind, conclude that the real break-though came from taking a whole brain thinking approach. Daniel projects that the future belongs to the “right-brain thinkers."
We are concerned about changes like increased natural disasters, financial and political instability which has us scouting for security. By using our creativity and focus on possibilities, we can embrace any new trend, and expand our human threshold.

I suggest that we have to look inward for changes. The real change we are looking for has to come from the inside of each individual. The training system which the TEAM has developed very much supports these trends. It gives all of us the opportunity to become the best we can be by going beyond ourselves, serving others and grow and learn continuously.

TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More

I just received my Direct Fulfillment shipment for July. I am always looking forward to this package. This feeds my mind for a whole month, one book and 12 CD’s. Additionally we have 4 weekly meetings and a monthly seminar.
This system keeps me informed, it keeps my mind on track with the whole TEAM and it keeps me motivated with positive stories and experiences of those who have achieved success through TEAM.
Robert Kiyosaki’s Cashflow Quadrant introduces us to the four different ways to create an income, legally. He goes step by step through each quadrant, explaining the benefits and the pitfalls. It is a good read for anyone who wants to take control over their financial future.
The reason the B – quadrant is a desirable place to earn in is that it takes advantage of a system. The system represents important information which helps us to make more educated decisions and we can cross over from the left side of the quadrants (job or self-employed) to the right side. It is the information and the system which allows us to eventually let the business run by itself, with income flowing in 24/7.
Most of us wonder, what do the wealthy people do different than the employed or self-employed. For one thing, they have the education and the experience to let others and a system work for them. That’s why Franchises became so popular. You buy not only a name and equipment from the company, but you get a clear business plan and consistent support from the founders of the company.
The TEAM Leadership Education system has developed over ten years, and the founders, Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady, have raised up hundreds of leaders through their own experience and the training which the system provides.
They have now teamed with MonaVie, a networking company, in order for all their members to go through a hands-on training and to receive royalty income from the distribution of the health drink MonaVie. To learn more about the juice, please visit: http://www.the-team.biz/MV991215.

Advantages of a Networking Business From Home

10 Reasons for working from home:

1. Be your own boss
2. No commute
3. Have more time for family and friends
4. Less stress
5. Low or very little start-up costs
6. Global exposure by accessing through the Internet
7. Opportunities for personal growth
8. Follow your dream and passion
9. Tax advantages
10. Unlimited income possibilities

According to Robert T. Kiyosaki, in his book: Rich Dad's Business School For People Who Like Helping People, he talks about the advantages of a networking business, also called direct marketing. Most of these companies are product focused. Even though they may have an excellent product, unless they have an education system which supports its distributors, they don't go very far. He writes in praise of the networking industry because they are dedicated to help people attain financial freedom through educating their distributors about their products and sharing the opportunity.

Since the TEAM has been collaborated with MonaVie many of our team members have had a phenomenal growth. This comes mainly because of the education in leadership which the TEAM has provided. I feel very confident to follow in the footsteps of these leaders and have my own victory.

Plan – Do – Check – Adjust

Today I like to refer to an interesting article by Orrin Woodward, the founder of TEAM, a leadership development service provider and education system for adults. Orrin was a systems engineer for one of the leading automobile manufacturers in Michigan before he and Chris Brady started the TEAM. Since then, they build a huge organization of dedicated and loyal men and women who are determined to restore moral and ethical values and create large communities of people who can be free personally and financially and help others do the same. Being healthy, wealthy and wise is a good condition to be.

PDCA can be used for many different circumstances; in business to make profits, in any organization and in personal life for growth, and to avoid frustration. Like with any goal, action is needed and if the action doesn’t bring the desired result adjustment is needed.

Orrin writes a blog every on leadership. This article appeared in November of 2007: Success Process:

1. Plan – “Those who fail to plan are planning to fail.” You must have a plan to accomplish practically anything in a positive direction. It has been said, “Any dead fish can float downstream, but it takes a live one to swim against the current!” To be a live fish you must have a plan; otherwise, you are floating downstream.
2. Do – “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.” Many would be leaders were planning on doing something great, but never got around to it. One of my favorite quotes is, “When all is said and done, much more is said than ever done.” The best plan in the world won’t accomplish anything unless it is implemented. Develop the plan and then have the courage to begin. A job well begun is half done!
3. Check – Many people fail at this point. They set a plan and begin the work, but never check to see if the plan is moving them in the right direction. Life is more like taking a canoe down a river. There are many course corrections along the way. Factors like the river current, obstacles in the water, and bends and turns will make you constantly seeking feedback. Without feedback you will run ashore and wonder why the plan didn’t work. By checking your results you will know which factors are different than you originally assumed and be in a position to make the necessary changes.
4. Adjust – After checking your results and identifying areas for improvement—the next step is to make the necessary adjustments. This does not mean your plan was bad, but only that we are human and cannot predict all the possible outcomes. By following this PDCA process—the destination will be met by adjusting the plan after you have checked for feedback. If we were all knowing, our plan would work by planning and doing. As human beings we must plan our work, do our work, check our work and adjust where necessary.

Here is the link to the full article:

I trust in Orrin’s leadership and spend many hours listening to his advice and wisdom. He is not only a very smart man, but also leads a very balanced and generous life. He and his wife Laurie have four children and are fully dedicated to bring victory through the TEAM. To learn more about the TEAM, please visit:

The Benefits of MonaVie Juice

Drink it. Feel it. Share it.

That’s the slogan of the company. I have been drinking the juice now for one month. I stopped all my other vitamins which I took a whole hand full everyday. Instead I am drinking one ounce of MonaVie Active in the morning and in the evening. My husband and I salute each other with the drink every night, and it feels very good. I like the benefits of the glucosamine on my joints, since I have had problems with my legs and right shoulder. We have already shared it with some of our friends and neighbors. It is an exciting time. I don’t want to be pulled down by the economy or any other negos. Please refer to my blog on "Business Trends (3-31-08)" Paul Zane Pilzer’s “The Next Millionaires.”

Benefits
• Delivers powerful antioxidant protection
• Provides the right variety and balance of phyto-nutrients
• Serves as a delicious alternative to encapsulated nutritional supplements
• Supports healthy joint function with glucosamine and esterified fatty acids (MonaVie Active and MonaVie Active Gel)

The Acai Berry has an ORAC Value that's Off the ChartsORAC means Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. According to the University of Michigan, Comprehensive Cancer Center, the measurement of ORAC is just a fancy way of saying, "How well does a certain food help my body fight diseases like cancer and heart disease?"

Key Ingredient
The açai berry is the crown jewel of the MonaVie blend. When properly freeze-dried, acai boasts an ORAC score of 1,026 per gram—higher than that of any other fruit or vegetable tested to date. It’s no wonder that for ages the indigenous cultures of the Amazon have revered açai as a source of health and vitality. Recently, modern science has validated the remarkable health benefits of this fruit, and studies have shown açai to contain the following beneficial nutrients:
• Polyphenols
• Vitamins and minerals
• Amino acids
• Essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6, and 9)
• Plant sterols
• Fiber
Studies have also shown that freeze-dried açai powder has an ORAC score that is 79 times higher than that of red grapes and an anthocyanin (purple colored antioxidants) level that is 20–30 times that of red wine. The final blend of MonaVie incorporates the flavors and benefits of the açai berry and 18 other healthful and delicious fruits.

Business Trends

Some people believe we are entering another depression. Everyone knows that our economy is changing. In school we are taught to get good grades, get an education and prepare for a secure job. Employee mentality is one of compliance. An employee waits for direction from external sources and does what he is told. No creativity, no personal involvement, nothing original, or going the extra mile. With many companies down-sizing or out-sourcing, many employees find themselves jobless.
Just in time the American economy is becoming more entrepreneurial. More work activities are driven by small business and entrepreneurs. Some people find themselves as consultants or contractors to companies they used to be employed by.
A while ago I read a book “The Next Millionaires” by Paul Zane Pilzer.
Mr. Pilzer explains in a very simple way how we are now moving out of the Industrial Age into the Information Age. With the arrival of the internet and globalization of business new industries are opening up.
He talks about four new areas of business becoming available for the entrepreneurs among us:
1 – The Wellness Business: With traditional health care failing us, people are looking for alternatives. Vitamins and food supplements are big. Fitness clubs are popping up everywhere. The baby boomers are setting the trend again; they don’t want to grow old.
Mr. Pilzer predicts that by the end of this decade, the wellness industry will exceed $1 trillion.
2 – The Internet: The internet has been around since 1990. Some business have come and gone in cyberspace but the internet is here to stay. With the exchange of information worldwide almost instantaneously, one can only imagine what will happen.
Mr. Pilzer proclaims that the Internet is a new emerging growth super-industry that has barely gotten started.
3 – Intellectual Distribution: This is the information age. Education, books, online seminars and most of all consumer awareness is big. Do you belief your doctor being like God, having all the answers?
Mr. Pilzer predicts that the #1 business opportunity for those who want to create new wealth is educating consumers about products and services that will improve their lives.
4 – Home-based Business: With a computer and a telephone one can start a business from the kitchen table. No commute, no overhead for office/store space, no employees, and a lifestyle including the family, what better way to conduct business?
Mr. Pilzer suggests that the greatest opportunity is to go into business for yourself as an entrepreneur. By combining some of the above mentioned methods the direct selling industry provides the perfect intellectual distribution business for today’s economy.

“It isn’t physical resources that make you wealthy; it’s technology that makes you wealthy.” - Paul Zane Pilzer from The New Millionares

These four trends are not only profitable moneywise; the greatest benefits come from personal development, training, and developing a strong belief system and leadership qualities, life skills which are certainly not taught in high school or college.
As the saying goes if you help enough other people to succeed, you can’t help to succeed yourself.

St. Louis – Here Comes the TEAM

I just returned from St. Louis were the TEAM put on a leadership conference. The TEAM is a leadership development service provider which teaches through seminars, books, audio and personal mentoring powerful principles for life.
On Thursday morning I had the most awful feeling of gloom and negativity. It came on when I listened to some coworkers about the weather and some general complaining. Around midmorning I was still struggling, when a customer approached me. His whole demeanor was negative and accusing. I tried very hard to help him and absorb some of this negativity. Even when I went home that evening, I wasn’t in the best mood yet.
Then a Toastmaster’s meeting was canceled because of weather conditions.
Friday morning came and we were to leave for the conference in St. Louis. It had snowed during the night and then sleeted and rained on top. The road conditions were not so good according to the weather channel. Then I discovered that the actual announcement weren’t always focusing on the same area and what we were hearing wasn’t really happening in St. Louis or our area but somewhere else in the country.
We finally left Cincinnati at noon, going the southern route through Louisville, Kentucky; Jasper, Indiana; Mount Vernon, Illinois and to St. Louis. It took us a little longer since we encountered some rain in the beginning. We got to St. Louis 7 ½ hours later.
The excitement and the warm welcome of the TEAM were overwhelming. We heard stories of cancelled flights, lost luggage and so many different ways members had traveled to St. Louis. Everyone had their own amazing story how they got there because they were determined to get there for this important meeting. The conference didn’t disappoint us. The information was powerful, entertaining and uplifting. For more information about the TEAM, please go to the website: http://the-team.biz/. St. Louis was ready for the TEAM. During our stay I could experience such wonderful hospitality from the city. They had just experience adverse weather conditions but were showing us the warmest welcome. The Metro system in the city was closed for repair over the weekend. Instead they had not only free shuttles from all the different hotels to the convention center but had personnel at every street corner. Everyone was friendly and giving clear directions.
Our hotel staff was also most hospitable. My husband and I went on Sunday morning to have breakfast at the hotel. We were inquiring about the price of the breakfast which was quite high but it was a buffet. As it turned out the server gave us a discount by charging us for only one breakfast.
The same happened when we paid for our bill at the front desk. We stayed for two nights and thought they would charge us for two days parking but the charge was for only one day. We were wondering why and just accepted it as a special blessing.
I believe the TEAM left a good impression when we were there last year. The positive impact the education of the TEAM system has on its members resounded in the ways we were treated in St. Louis. This really shows that if you treat people well they will not only respond but treat you well, too.
Regarding the feeling of gloom I felt Thursday morning I am glad I didn’t give into it. The sun will always come out again – sometimes we just have to push though everything and find the good and disregard our personal feelings.
